Celebrated Image Consultant and Personal Stylist
The school is fortunate to have one of South Africa’s top Image Consultants on board to teach our Style and Image course. Tracy is internationally renowned for her work as a personal stylist, fashion designer and published fashion writer.
She frequently travels abroad to do style consultations, fashion research and makeovers for selected clients.

Dr Serge Solomons
Motivational Speaker, Pastor and Lecturer
Dr. Serge Solomons is a part-time medical doctor and pastor in Johannesburg who has the vision to serve humanity and bring healing and transformation in people’s lives on a deeper level. He is actively involved in the curriculum development of Equilibria’s Discipleship Programme and works as an inspirational speaker, coach and facilitator in various human empowerment fields. He loves young people and teaches Emotional Intelligence and Relationship Skills at Equilibria. His courses never fail to change our student’s hearts, paving the way for them to live value-driven and fulfilling lives.
Nutritionist, author and health blogger
Debra Langley is a qualified pharmacist and nutritionist with a passion to help people make better lifestyle and nutritional choices. In her work as a pharmacist, Debra became aware of the countless diseases that people suffer from that are linked to poor lifestyle and nutritional choices. It inspired her to study further to discover ways in which she could guide people to live happy and healthy lives by adapting their diet and lifestyles. She lives in Pretoria and works as a nutritionist, blogger and author of several books. Her vision is to create a community to help people stay motivated and inspired to make the changes.

Cape Wine Master and Wine Consultant
Equilibria’s Wine Appreciation course is presented by Cape Wine Master, Derek Ramsden. Derek won the Van Ryn’s Award for Brandy Excellence after achieving the highest score in the examination section devoted to brandy in the Cape Wine Masters (CWM) programme. He loves to inspire students to discover the rich culture of food and wine pairing and includes tasting sessions of brandy and chocolates and sherry and cheese in his course at Equilibria. Derek is the founder and owner of One Wine Cellar, a company that specializes in wine cellar building and design (www.onewinecellar.co.za). He works as a full-time wine consultant and present workshops and short courses in wine appreciation, wine tasting and food and wine pairing – his number one passion.

Petrus Jacobs is a highly-in-demand fulltime motivational speaker and life coach who has done human empowerment training for prominent South African and international companies such as Virgin Active, Metropolitan and Nissan. Dr René Koraan
Advocate, Lecturer and Legal Expert
Renè Koraan (LLB, LLM Labor Law) is employed as a senior lecturer in Criminal Law, Juvenile Justice and Legal Education at the North-West University. Rene’s energetic and creative lecturing skills have won her the prestigious BEST LECTURER AWARD in the Faculty of Law at the North-West University. She enjoys using fun ways to engage her students in the world of law and is known for her practical and hands-on approach to teaching the fundamentals of South African law. She feels that it is important that every young person is well informed about their rights and liabilities before they enter into adult life.
Dr Alfred Henrico
Lecturer and Mentor
Dr. Alfred Henrico is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences of the North-West University. His exceptional gift for teaching has won him the prestigious VICE-CHANCELLOR’S AWARD FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE at the university. Alfred’s true passion is to inspire young entrepreneurs, helping them to develop sustainable businesses. He is actively involved in lecturing, mentoring and the curriculum development of Equilibria’s Certificate in Entrepreneurship.
Prof. Ignatius Gous
Professor at the University of South Africa
We are grateful to have Prof. Ignatius Gous here to teach our students the value and methods to study correctly.
Prof Gous works in the interdisciplinary field of Mind, Brain, and Education Science, focusing on Effective Learning and Teaching. Originally trained as an Old Testament Scholar, his interests evolved from attempting to understand the minds of the authors of texts, to studying the cognitive science of religion and ritual. For the past 34 years, he is a member of faculty at the University of South Africa, where he became acutely aware that it is not enough to teach only the content of a discipline, but equally important to teach the ability to master content. He subsequently developed a unique programme on Effective Learning Strategies for students entitled the Golden Spiral method of Lifelong Learning.
Dr Lida Holtzhausen
Lecturer and Mentor
Equilibria is proud to have Dr. Lida Holtzhausen (PhD, Corporate Communication) on our team of dynamic lecturers. Having won the school’s BEST LECTURER award, she is a bundle of inspiring energy with a flair for lecturing. Lida works as a Senior Lecturer at the North-West University’s School for Communication studies. She has a passion for etiquette and loves to teach young people how to be graceful and elegant at all times.
Professional dancer and dancing instructor
Marco Smit is the proud owner of a dynamic dance studio in Potchefstroom entitled Step by Step Dance Studio. He has won several national dance competitions in South Africa and has a passion for teaching young people how to have confidence and style on the dancefloor. His Social Dancing course at Equilibria is always a highlight of the gap year course. Marco believes that dancing is a powerful way to boost health, fitness and a positive self-image in young people.
Jean du Toit
Researcher and lecturer in Philosophy
Jean du Toit has a Masters Degree in both Philosophy and Biochemistry. He works as a lecturer at the School for Philosophy of the North-West University and is currently conducting his doctoral degree in the relationship between human consciousness and artificial intelligence. He teaches the Critical Thinking course at Equilibria and enjoys to challenge students to think beyond their everyday reality and ask critical questions about the world around them.
Equilibria’s Safety and Self-defense Course is presented by Charl Bouwman, the owner of Coalition Grable Academy. He and his team have developed a self-defense system that is simple enough to teach students in a few days to defend themselves effectively in various crime or emergency situations. Their system is based on an actual fighting system used by the Eastern military on the battlefield and was designed to end a fight quickly with minimum effort and maximum results. His competent team of instructors has more than ten years of experience in self-defense training.
Johann du Toit
Professional Photographer and Lecturer
Equilibria’s Photography course is taught by Johann du Toit, the owner of a leading photographic studio in Potchefstroom entitled Picture Café: picturecafe.co.za. He works as a professional photographer and focuses on innovative approaches to produce creative results. With years of experience within the photographic industry, he believes it is important that students develop a sound understanding of the technical and creative aspects of photography to master the fine art of photography. His classes are marked by individual attention and are both informative and fun.
Minnet du Preez
Lecturer and creative inspiration
Equilibria’s Interior Decorating course is taught by the talented Minnet du Preez (PHD Health Professions Education), a lecturer at the School for Consumer Sciences at the North-West University in Potchefstroom. Minnet is qualified with a BSC and a Masters Degree in Consumer Science. Her passion for finding innovative ways to beautify an environment is contagious. She uses practical and hands-on approaches to teach our students easy DIY methods to improve and decorate their personal spaces.
